Recipe: Beef Mushroom Stroganoff
What I Liked
- I loved the idea of pasta, mushrooms, and beef. This is my first time making Stroganoff, so I was really excited.
What I Didn’t Like
- The one-pot method. I had a bad feeling about it, but decided to listen to Ben and go along with it anyway. I’d hate to be sexist, but ladies, never listen to a guy over your gut feeling when it comes to kitchen stuff. The problem with is is that it water-downs the mushrooms flavor, and is not scale-able. I don’t measure out mushrooms and pasta by the ounce, so I want to have a recipe that will work regardless. In this case, the noodles were barely covered with broth, so I had to add more. Lots more. As a result, the water didn’t evaporate and I had to pour it out.
I’m all for one-pot wonders, but sometimes you just gotta take out that extra pot.
- Total lack of flavor. I’m not usually so harsh about recipes, but even the all-eating Ben didn’t have anything nice to say about this one. I added onion, garlic, thyme, everything. Couldn’t save it. This Beef Mushroom Stroganoff really didn’t taste like mushrooms, which was my biggest disappointment.
Make it Again?
This One Pot Beef Mushroom Stroganoff is unfortunately a disappointing dinner, perhaps it can be salvaged with some spices, but I haven’t managed to do it.
