This ice cream is the best Haagen Dazs Green Tea Ice Cream Copycat out there. Haagen Dazs ice cream is my favorite because it only contains 5 ingredients: cream, milk. sugar, eggs, and whichever flavor they’re featuring. How great is that? Even though they can be pricey, I’d still rather pay $6-7 for real ice cream, than $3-4 for something that can easily contain 20 ingredients.
One of my favorite flavors of all time is the green tea. I mean, how can you not LOVE it? just look at how creamy and green and wonderful it is. One thing to mention, is that this ice cream doesn’t scream “MATCHA”, more like whispers it. I wouldn’t say the flavor is mild, but it has definitely been westernized. As someone who has tried “real” matcha desserts before, I certainly don’t have a problem with that – as matcha can get quite intense.
Which is the reason why I like this copycat recipe so much. It contains the same ingredients, and the matcha flavor is nice and gentle, while still providing that beautiful aftertaste of green tea. It’s super easy to make, and just a great little something to snack on while you’re craving something refreshing and sweet – but not over the top.
